Certain cars acquire reputations via buyers’ gender or age group

Volkswagen’s Beetle and Chrysler’s PT Cruiser are surprisingly popular
among women drivers. The Honda Element was marketed to appeal to
young drivers, but it’s been successful among urban families who enjoy
recreation.
Like the Beetle and PT Cruiser, the Mazda Miata has had great success
among women drivers, and it’s become the world’s best-selling two-
passenger convertible. But Mazda had other plans, and they’re overtly
apparent considering the 2006 version.
First, Mazda now prefers the name MX-5 to Miata. More importantly, the
Miata, which debuted in 1990, has undergone vast changes for ‘06. It’s
2.5 inches longer in the wheelbase, 1.6 inches longer overall and 1.7
inches wider. It’s engine has increased from 1.8 liters and 142
horsepower to 2.0 liters to 170 horsepower.
Additionally, color scheming has drastically improved and the car’s
presence on the road is anything but its previous “soft” reputation.
My test vehicle for the week was the Mazda Grand Touring edition with a
six-speed manual transmission one of six available MX-5 models. It
was nothing short of a quick, stylish, nicely appointed sports car. It
perfectly fit the sports car stereotype long on fun and short on
practicality.
The 2006 Miata is the Mazda’s third generation of the vehicle, but it’s
really an entirely new vehicle. Its exterior presence reveals a lot. Unlike
some red sports cars, the Mazda’s shade is more a rich, dark brick red
and it’s perfectly complemented by the dark tan leather interior.
New also for 2006 Miata are 17-inch wheels, front and rear stabilizer
bars, xenon headlights, and a one-touch, convertible top with a glass
rear window. It all further nicely adds to the Miata’s new look.
The vehicle’s interior is equally impressive. There’s plenty of leg room,
considering the car’s two-seat convertible status. Gauges and other
instrumentation are clean, well-positioned and function with ease.
The convertible top system is particularly impressive. Unlock one latch
above the central console with the push of a button and the top easily
folds back into a flush position. It securely locks into place with a slight
push on the top once it’s snugly positioned into place. When you’re
ready to put the top back, simply push another lever inside the rear seat
console and the top releases. Although it’s a manual system, it easily
returns into position and secures with the same latch.
Considering the nature of convertibles, the Miata isn’t particularly quiet
on the open road. Conversations are difficult at best, but the noise factor
is greatly reduced when the windows and the rear wind screen between
the two seats are all in the their up positions. Whne the convertible top is
up, the noise level is average.
The 2006 Miata/MX-5 performs well. Steering and handling is quick, and
maneuvering through traffic is efficient in stop-and-go traffic or in
interstate situations. In one lane change scenario in highway conditions
there was a noticeable skid.
Despite the momentarily lapse, the new Miata is a fine choice. It’s
matched against the Honda S2000 and the Pontiac Solstice in the
sports car category. The entry level price point for the Solstice is lower
than the MX-5 and it has not yet been reviewed. The Honda S2000 has
been reviewed twice by the Weekly Driver and it performs according to
the high standards of the manufacturer. It has 70 more horsepower than
the Mazda, and other strong features. Its base prices is more than
$6,000 higher than a comparably equipped Miata/MX-5.
Briefly stated, the new and improved Miata/MX-5 is handsome and
priced well. And its history a sports car particularly popular only among
women drivers is likely soon to change.

Not so Simple Tip #5: After trying exercise and a good diet without positive results in losing cellulite dimples, the last resort is through lipsosuction. There are some creams with caffeine in them that may mask the cellulite appearance, but surgery is usually the last resort effort.
The downfall being that the cost is usually at least $5000 on up.

Three economists go hunting and come across a large deer. The first economist fires and misses three feet to the right. The second fires and misses three feet to the left. The third doesn’t fire, but shouts out with great excitement, “we got him, we got him!”
You need to borrow and your lender gives you a choice between a fixed rate and a variable rate loan. Which do you choose? Or, you have excess funds that you don’t need for a while. Do you buy a fixed rate government note, or put the money in your business’ money market fund? This should simplify things for you and give you what you need – without firing two shots and thinking that, on average, you hit the mark.
When you finish reading this in ten minutes, or so, you’re not going to be an interest rate guru. Leave that to the economists, the bankers and the other self-proclaimed experts who try to make a living predicting what interest rates will do next. But, you will have enough of an understanding to directionally forecast where interest rates are likely to be headed, why, how your small business might be affected, and what you should be doing to protect your company.
A lot of the confusion and mystery about interest rates stems from inaccurate and sometimes misleading statements in the press – because too many financial writers don’t know much more about interest rates than you do. They tell us that “rates” are moving higher – well, which rates? They tell us that the President, or congress, or the Federal Reserve Chairman is “responsible” for rates going up. They say that the Federal Reserve is trying to push “mortgage rates” higher. They imply that banks are “gouging” customers with high loan rates and are “miserly” with the rates they pay on deposits. So, let’s try to get enough things straight to take the mystery out of this.
Stop thinking about what “rates” are, where “rates” are heading, and how “rates” are going to affect your business. There are not “rates” – there are short term rates (i.e. less than one year) and long term rates (you guessed it – more than one year) and it’s important to differentiate between the two. Think about the interest rates on government securities; you can buy them with maturities that range anywhere from a few days to almost thirty years. The important things to understand are that, while short term and long term rates move in the same general direction over long periods of time, they don’t change at the same speed, they often don’t change by the same amount, and, sometimes, they can actually move in opposite directions.
The level of short term rates is primarily a function of what the Federal Reserve – the country’s central bank – wants them to be. The Fed controls short term rates by reviewing and setting the Fed Funds rate every few weeks. The Fed Funds rate is the rate at which U.S. banks lend to each other, when some banks have excess funds and others need to borrow them to balance their books at the end of each day. (These “loans” between large banks usually expire the next day and have to be renegotiated.) So, the Fed Funds rate is what the Fed says it is; they set the rate where they want it to be and change it by whatever amount they want.
Then the level of the Fed Funds rate influences all other short term rates, from Treasury Bills, to Money Market Funds, to short term bank deposits, to everything else. All other short term rates are set by the markets, but if they start to move very far away from where they should be, arbitragers come into the picture to drive them back into line. The bottom line – and the one thing to watch – is the Fed Funds Rate; nothing else matters, as far as short term interest rates are concerned.
Long term rates, on the other hand, are not directly influenced by the Federal Reserve and are much more dependent on supply and demand factors and the overall direction of the financial markets. Supply and demand can, and often does, extend across financial markets. For example, if investment in the stock market is weak, those funds need to go somewhere and may end up in the bond market; this means that demand for bonds increases and this can push long term rates higher. Or, financial traders may believe that inflation will increase down the road and push long term interest rates higher as a result. Or, speculators may come into the market and, at least for short periods of time, push long term rates significantly in one direction, or another. The point to remember is that collective factors in the financial markets are responsible for movements in long term rates and, while the Federal Reserve can influence long term rates by moving short term rates up, or down, it doesn’t set them directly and it is sometime frustrated because the markets “over-ride”" their intentions.
That’s enough Economics 101. Here are some interest rate rules of thumb that can help your small business. Our economy tends to continuously repeat cycles of growing for several years and then slipping into recession for a year or two. In the early stages of an economic recovery, both short term and long term interest rates stay low; as growth continues, however, short term rates start to rise. Then in the middle of the recovery, there is often some modest movement in longer term rates. Toward the end of an economic growth cycle, the economy really heats up and both short term and long term rates rise further. In this “end game,” however, short term rates are likely to move up much more quickly and, at times, actually be higher than long term rates. Finally, as the economy collapses, all interest rates start to fall, but short term rates normally fall faster and further than long term rates.
This is, of course, a generalization, but what does it mean and how do you take advantage of it? Just follow the likely interest rate trend. If you are borrowing at the beginning of an economic recovery, get a long term rate – at the end of the recovery, a short term rate might be better. If you’re saving, it’s just the opposite – use a short term rate at the beginning of a recovery and a long term rate toward the end.

My favourite episode of Bugs Bunny is the one where Bugs turns into a witch and says: “We ride vacuum cleaners now”.
It is true that the vacuum cleaner can be substituted for a broom to do a spell. For instance, one way to get rid of negative energy in your home would be to sprinkle sage leaves or salt all over the floor and as you vacuum picture all the bad vibrations being sucked up and removed along with the real dirt. I recommend you do this after a nasty person has paid you a visit or a tragic or upsetting event has taken place in your environment. The old way would be to sprinkle salt all over your floor or some kind of commercial powder and sweep the astral detritus away with a broom and out. Lightly sprinkling salt onto the floor and vacuuming your house in a counterclockwise direction during a waning moon is a good idea. Think of it as a kind of Techno-Banishing Spell.
Another modern convenience, the common household drain, can also be used for a banishing spell. Every time you rinse out your sink, picture all bad energy in your life going down the drain as well. Picture your burdens, troubles and bad habits swirling down the drain. There is a spell using blueberries that is used for removing rivals and obstacles in your path. As you crush the blueberries in your hand you are supposed to watch the blue juice swirling down the drain. An automatic disposal unit can be used in the same way using various vegetables. For instance, a classic spell to create impotence is to take cucumbers or carrots and mulch them in your automatic disposal unit. Potatoes, which are historically used to make poppets, (a crude form of voodoo doll) can be carved into the shape of a person or into a symbol of the thing you want removed from your life and crushed in the garbage disposal the same way. You don’t have to spend a whole lot of time carving symbols out of potatoes and wasting perfectly good food. In general, whenever you mulch, crunch, destroy, rinse or throw something down a drain, visualize a problem in your life disappearing along with the waste material.
The toaster is also a Techno-Witch’s best friend. With a knife lightly carve a symbol representing what you would like to happen into a slice of bread or a frozen waffle — a heart for love or the amount of money you need to receive The toasting represents the cosmos “warming up to the idea”. All cooking practices are a form of magic. When the waffle or toast is ready, slather it with butter, to smooth your way and honey to make sure your wishes “stick” to you. Jam, particularly strawberry-rhubarb, is good for a love wish. Then eat it to symbolize bringing the magic into your life.
The blender is a useful Techno-Witch tool for both gathering and banishing energy. The idea of a blender is to mix and mingle different elements … so you can take various ingredients (refer to the Magic in Food article on this site) to create love potions using different ingredients. For instance blending strawberries, which is a love food, with vanilla ice cream (also love) with a touch of cinnamon (speed) could bring you a quick romance. Bring money to you by pulverizing spinach (money bringing) with cream (represents the smoothing of your path) to make a prosperity soup. If you are angry, you can also use the blender to pulverize elements as described above. A lot of the effectiveness of magick relies on your intent and your ability to visualize the outcome. In the old days, witches used mortar and pestles to grind magical elements and release their essence into the aura. These days you can use a blender, chopper or even a coffee grinder.
The stove has always been a witch’s best friend but the microwave is the ultimate tool for the Techno-Witch. The microwave is great for producing accelerated results. One prosperity ritual involving the microwave is to cook a bag of microwave popcorn and while each kernel pops, you make a point of yelling out a wish or desire. You can do this cooking popcorn as well, but I hear the microwave brings faster results.
You can also use your television set or radio to practice the ancient art of bibliomancy and scrying. Only instead of using a book, you are using sounds… I guess I would call this Tvomancy or Radiomancy. Basically you ask a question and then randomly flip the radio and listen to what dialogue comes out first. You can do this too, using the television remote… ask the question and the first image or dialogue that comes to mind contains your answer. This is a form of Techno-Fortune Telling.
