Lord Krishna – A Pragmatic Lord

Lord Krishna, to the common man has been a flamboyant lord who had only been romancing with Radha and her friends. But many forget that he was a king, politician, husband, father and friend to Pandavas of the Mahabharta fame, wherein he passed the supreme knowledge of Karma through Arjuna. Rarely he has been portrayed as a king of political mastery and an ace diplomat who knew the nuances of the art too well. In fact, he has been described by the poets mostly as a young man who had been either making her mother Yashoda ( who brought him up, not the biological mother Devki) enchant with his childish and naughty behaviour or found romancing with Radha and her friends, with one flute in his hands.

The poets are not to blame as any one would like to enthrall the readers with the lord’s behaviour as a common man who had the similar vices by portraying him in mystically romantic man rather than showcasing him as a hardcore politician or some such sort.

Factually he was much more than what he has been painted for through the ages. Look at the messages which he has given to the humanity by acting on those lines. What he preached, he practiced to well. He was not only a learned man but a true politician, ace diplomat and above all a true human being besides he being the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu.

First message was that you have to have total faith in his lordship, be it as Krishna or prophet or Jejus. You have to have not just faith but absolute faith. This has been illustrated by the example of Draupadi’s (wife of Pandavas, Five Brothers) unceremonius, bizzare public display of outraging the modesty of a queen, when Pandavas lost her in gamble treachrously manipulated by Shakuni and Duryodhan. She kept on praying to lord to save her from the ordeal by raising one hand and trying to save herself with another. Lord never came to her rescue till she was overpowered comprehensively by Dushshayan and she was left with no choice but to leave every thing to god. when she shouted, ‘hey Krishna, save me’ by raising both the hands up in total surrender and posing total faith in him, Lord began his supply of clothes which never finished till the tyrant got exhausted and left in a huff.

Second message was total self sacrifice and yet be with the Dharma, the religion. When Duryodhan and Arjuna reached him to seek help prior to Mahabharta war, he was lying in the couch in Yoga-nidra, a yogic posture for sleep. Knowing fully well, being the lord himself, he kept on sleeping till Arjuna came and sat alongside his feats and Duryodhana on the head of the bed. Then he got up and asked the reason for both brothers coming together. When they mentioned the reason, which he knew and decided the side he will be in, he said ‘Arjun has come first as I saw him first and as such being younger in age he had the right to ask first’, which Arjuna did and sought help. He divided himself on one side and his army known as Satyaki Sena, to be fighting against each other. Arjuna got the lordship in his favour without the fighting rights and confirmed the victory before the battle could join. Here lord Krishna sacrificed himself as a king, without his army what he was worth of. But he held on to side of Dharma.

Third message was the righteous duty. The Gita is the supreme treaise on the Karma, man has ever produced. The Gita is not a religious book limited to the Hindu devotees but it is the essence of human values and the life thriugh Karma for the entire humanity to practice. Though it was delivered just prior to the Mahabharta war, notwithstanding the mesage remains to be followed ever after its delivery. The message of leading a meaningful life of a human being has been articulated in such a finery yet to be found in any scriptures. The essence of the Gita is to perform the duties to the best of one’s capability and yet do not get attached to the outcome, lest you will be sorry if the result is not as per your expectations. Thus, do your duties dutifully and leave it to THEE! Lord will take care of everything. But one should not derive the message that since you have no justified rights over the results of your deeds or hard work, inaction on on your part is justified. No, you have to continue with your mission no matter what the outcome is going to be, as such that is not in your hand.

Thus, lord Krishna left an indelible mark on the humanity through his life, which he practiced and then preached. May lord bless us the strength and wisdom to perform the righteous duties and yet be free from the expectations of its friuts.

Meditation a SimpleTechnique To Relax and Calm You

Meditation is easy to do and can give you an instant feeling of calmness and relaxation.

Here we are going to outline a simple meditation technique that can be practiced by all, with 5 – 20 minutes to spare each day.

This mediation technique is simple and very effective and only takek you a few minutes to learn and will help you relax away from the stresses of everyday life.

What is meditation?

A definition accepted in most dictionaries for meditation is, continuous and profound contemplation or musing on a subject or series of subjects of a deep or abstruse nature. This is really reflection.

Meditation generally involves where one consciously discounts wandering thoughts and fantasies, and calming and focusing the mind, while controlling the breath, and sensory awareness.

So, the meaning in the dictionary is really referring to reflection or concentration, both pre-requisites for meditation, but not meditation itself.

For unless one can voluntarily control our basic life functions (such as breathing) and meaningfully turn off the senses to outside stimuli, one cannot even hope to enter into meditation.

Does this mean that meditation is open only for those who have mastered control of their own life forces? Not exactly.

Meditation to relax and calm your mind

There is one meditation anyone can do, and by doing it, one’s life force itself comes under control; ones senses turn off, and the mind becomes quiet. Then the peace and realization that comes from true meditation comes to the practitioner. What is the name of this meditation, and how is it done?

A simple meditation technique for all

Its name is Soham, or Hamsa if one is following the meditation as taught by Paramhamsa Yogananda. Soham in sanskrit simply means I am He.

Even spoken over and over, the syllables merge…so one is saying Sohamsoham…I am He, He am I…it is a prayer and a meditation mantra which are spiritually charged word or series of words used a meditation theme.

If you but practice it once, you will see immediately its positive effects. One feels calm, and de-stressed.

One feels close ones intuition, and one feels as if the world of material things is less important due to its overbearing insignificance when compared to the bliss one feels in meditation.

How to mediate in simple steps

Let’s see how it’s done. Find a place where you feel most comfortable, and private…with as few distractions as possible.

Sit up straight with your spine in a line…do not slouch. You must be comfortable, so sit on a chair or on the floor with a soft mat or carpet underneath you.

Close your eyes, but in a relaxed manner. Now relax your whole body, part by part by first tensing that part, and then relaxing it.

When you feel completely relaxed, command your mind to be silent, your emotions to be still, keeping your body as relaxed as possible.

Now focus on the sound of your breath coming in. Associate that sound and feeling with the word So.

As you exhale, listen to the sound and associate it with the word Ham. As a guide, So sounds as does if you are saying it in English. Ham could actually be written as Hom, as the in Ham is very weak.

As you do this meditation, actually imagine the air entering your nose and traveling all the way down into your lungs. This is one So. As you exhale, you can imagine the air traveling out of the lungs, up to the nose and out of your body. This is one Ham.

Beginners in this meditation usually silently say the word So with each inhalation and the word Ham with each exhalation. Continue in this way, as long as you are comfortable, but no less than 5 minutes, and no longer than 20 minutes until the meditation feels natural to go longer.

This meditation technique will give you instant calmness

As you practice this meditation, you will see that So Ham So Ham becomes just Soham. Soham is by far the easiest meditation, and not be done with the breath controlled, and the senses not picking up stimuli.

As breathing is natural, and it comes to all living creatures without any effort ang gives a feeling of instant relaxation and calmness.

Find Out the Things To Watch for When Making Cell Comparisons

A big and growing mobile telephone UK market following the rule of introducing ‘a phone a day’ has made it uncommonly complicated for folk to compare phone deals. Most of the time, there are innumerable aspects that folk may need to look into when making cell phone comparisons that some of the most foremost ones get missed out.

As a result, one consistently end up using a phone which is either too costly or a phone which is not ideal for your mobile phone call and text profile. Hence we point out in this guide about the two very most chief things that mobile customers should always investigate when making mobile phone comparisons. This might help people land a cell phone that at the very least meets the standard criteria mobile phone customers are looking for.

The total cell phone UK market is booming on the basis of stunning features like mp3 players that keep getting added everyday. Nonetheless, a deeply large majority of cell phone customers purchase mobiles based on their appearance, brand and incredible marketing only to regret at a later stage when mobile phone customers note that their stunning handset lacks a remarkably basic feature like sending emails or MMS. Loads of lovely high end cell phones sell on the basis of marketing, brand and looks at prices that are unjustified given the lack of features. For example the very latest apple Iphone 3G does not let people forward text messages to all. Unfortunately, this phone’s target audience, early 20s, gets to regret the absence of this mobile phone feature only after spending years worth of pocket money on it. Hence make sure that your awesome new cell phone has all the features like mp3 players you require before paying up. Since mobile firms will never tell folk about the lovely features like mp3 players that their phones lack, reading up online cell phone write ups is the leading way to do it. Clearing a Path for Happiness

In the United States, the pursuit of happiness is a god-given right and Americans have a document to prove it. But I wonder why the Founding Fathers deliberately phrased it, ‘the pursuit of happiness’, as if to say — happiness in itself cannot be granted because it was, and still remains, tied to materialism. In the “pursuit” of happiness, it is each person’s own definition: riches, health, religion, etc.

Take, as an example, the pessimist and optimist. If anything bad happens, the pessimist believes it will not last long but will surely undermine his life. He feels the deck is stacked against him, yet being more realistic than the optimist, he prepares himself for misfortune.

The optimist regards it as a temporary setback and goes about removing the obstacle. He risks more but these efforts give meaning to his life and he makes the best of it. To acquire is to be happy (so the culture teaches) therefore blessed are they for among them are corporate executives in their mansions.

There is enough on the subject of happiness to fill an ebook, but let’s measure just one facet: the Internet. How much would it take to make you a happy Interneter? Has your ‘big break’ eluded you thus far? What kind of Internet success would give you a sense of control over your life – because when you think about it, “control over your life” is a huge slice of happiness.

To generate an income on the Internet, it must come through the development of integrity, character, and efforts on behalf of a cause greater than oneself. By doing the job with honesty, helpfulness, and concern for others, we may have to take some time from our busy schedule to ‘coach’ a struggling newbie. This mindset offers an easier path to your own success.

Personally, I have not set goals of Internet success so high that it would plunge me into depression when deprived of a six figure income. Given the years (like me) you have labored the Internet, you must avoid the “joy-busters” out to derail your efforts. Only then can you begin living up to your full potential. You will discover more energy and creativity, better relationships, healthier thoughts leading to new ideas and a more rewarding income.

Is there a difference between the life you have – and the life you want? Do you think excuses or results? You can change this today; be that singer who is tone-deaf but sings anyway for the sheer joy it offers.

Jim Leonard wrote, “Happiness is a skill. As with other skills, you can get better at it.” He suggests that at this point in your life you might think that things are not the way they should be. Yet things are the way they are. If you can be happy in that reality, then you will improve your life faster and reach your goals easier. Energy will not be wasted on friction or regrets.

What you have is the present moment. Use it – enjoy it.

Awakening the Senses

The “Sensazione” chapter of the book, “How to think like Leonardo da Vinci”, by Michael Gelb, is dedicated to re-awakening and sharpening each of the five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.

As artists, we get to play in the land of the senses as often as we allow ourselves to. And our gift to the world is that we help others to engage their senses through what we create.

So how is it that many of us, even artists, have ended up with our senses deadened? To fully experience the sensory and sensual thrills that surround us, we need to be aware of them. We need to be open to being perpetually surprised. We need to nurture the feelings of awe and wonder.

da Vinci took great care to create an environment that nourished every one of his senses. Nothing was there by chance.

And it’s just as important to change your sensory inputs regularly, whether that means going somewhere new or reconfiguring what you see in front of you in your studio space.

Surprise yourself with something new!

Gelb offers lots of exercises in this chapter to help you awaken your senses. My favourite is “Subtle Speculation: The Art of Visualization”. As he explains:

“The ability to visualize a desired outcome is built into your brain, and your brain is designed to help you succeed in matching that picture with your performance. And the more thoroughly you involve all your senses, the more compelling your visualization becomes.”

When I guide clients through a meditation or visualization exercise, I encourage them to evoke elements from all of the senses. If we’re imagining the ideal creative space or studio, I ask them, “What does it smell like?” along with, “what do you see?” and, “what do you hear?”

One of my music professors at university used to encourage us to practice mentality. I found myself doing that the other night before a performance playing a duet with a music therapy client. It’s amazing how well it works. I know that even though my hands didn’t touch the piano, that short refresher of where they would go once they DID, helped me to feel more prepared AND to play the piece flawlessly.

It’s also been proven that even as you imagine your body exercising, your brain is busy sending and receiving messages to your muscles just as if you were actually lifting those barbells or stretching that calf.

Because of that research, when I do movement to music exercises with my music therapy clients who have hemi-paralysis (one side of their body is partly or completely paralyzed), their impulse often is to repeat movements on their “working” side. I encourage them, instead, to focus on the side that’s paralyzed, and to *imagine* that side of their body doing the movements.

“The ability to visualize a desired outcome” is also well utilized in the Science of Getting Rich. It’s author, Wallace Wattles, encourages readers to have a “clear mental image” of what they want to achieve, and to focus their thoughts on that. According to the law of attraction, what you focus on grows. Unfortunately, we often spend a far greater amount of time focusing on what we *don’t* like about our current circumstances, essentially bringing more of that into our lives.

Gelb also introduces da Vinci’s concept of “Synesthesia”, the merging of the senses. What would your painting sound like if it were an opera? How would that B-flat blues taste if it were a soup? What colour is your first chapter? How would your sculpture feel and look if it were wrapped around you like a cloak?

Many accomplished artists have one or more complimentary art forms that they regularly practice. I know for myself that the act of creating, in any form, sparks my creativity in all mediums. Once I open myself up to the sensory exploration, I’m rewarded by a renewed awareness – an awakening of the senses.

The Surgery

She couldn’t take her eyes off her baby as the surgeon described the procedure; no, procedures.

“I didn’t know it was going to be so complicated,” she said holding back tears.

“Sometimes these things are a little more complicated,” the surgeon replied, “But you want her to be fixed, right?”

“Yes, I do.” The tears were held at bay but they were blurring her vision now.

She took in a deep breath, “Ok, go ahead and do what you have to do.” She looked into the surgeon’s eyes, “I trust you. I’ll just wait in here.” As she walked off the surgeon could barely hear the soft sobs.

For the next four hours, the surgeon worked with great love and concentration. She had done this type of work before and she understood what was at stake. Her reputation depended on her skill in not only repairing the damage but hiding any scars so that the patient retained her original beauty as well. This one had been her toughest surgery to date, an almost complete reconstruction. It had taken her six months to convince the loved one that the surgery was necessary that it was in the best interest of the patient. Love can do strange things to a person, even delaying needed surgery. Finally, the reconstruction was finished.

“Mary-Clare,” the surgeon slowly opened the door, “I’m finished with your baby.”

The little girl leapt out of bed and grabbed her beloved stuffed cow hugging her to her chest.

“Oh, Caroline Bovine, you look wonderful!”

With her cow in one hand, she wrapped the other around her mother’s neck and kissed her on the cheek.

“Oh, Mom, you are the best!”

The surgeon watched as the little girl turned and returned to the celebratory tea party set for Caroline’s return. Another successful surgery, she loved her job.

Networking in the Change Room: 5 Ways to Network Effectively While Getting Undressed

There’s a time and place to network with people in order to generate leads, build rapport and form meaningful relationships. The change room at your gym, spa or country club isn’t one of them. It’s a lousy place to do any networking. Things dangle, imperfections are visible and being naked means that you’re vulnerable.

If the person is a yapper, you’re stuck listening to him since you won’t be able to scurry away to your car in your birthday suit. If the person is a looker, you may feel embarrassed asking her to keep her eyes focused on your own.

If you bump into someone you’ve been trying to get in touch with, and he’s standing in front of you half-naked, here’s some tips to remember to avoid embarrassment.

  1. Don’t stare. At a networking event, it’s perfectly fine to look at what someone’s wearing and even comment on how they look. In the change room, this is a no-no. Whether the person has a mole on their butt or a rash on their thigh, resist the temptation of eyeing that spot. Also, never ask how they got it. Instead, glance at the spot quickly, then return your focus to the person’s eyes.

  2. Keep your eyes at eye level. While networking, it’s common for people to make eye contact then let their eyes fall down to your chest area to read your nametag. Don’t do this in the change room. Nothing is more embarrassing then dropping your eyes to scan the person in their birthday suit. Your best bet is to pretend the person is wearing a full body chastity suit and that you can’t see anything below his or her neck.

  3. Don’t have a long chat. At a networking event, it’s okay to engage people for at least 5-minutes to find out who they are and how you can help them. In the change room, people are often not in the business frame of mind. For example, someone at the gym is there to workout and may need to get back to office quickly. Someone at the spa is there to relax and has left the office at the office. If you must chat, keep it very pleasant and very short. Then, promise to follow-up by email or phone later in the day.

  4. Resist the handshake. In a normal networking situation, shaking hands is proper business etiquette. However, while in the change room, resist the urge to stick out your hand. The person may have hair gel, body lotion or some other gooey substance all over their fingers. The last thing you want to do is stand there after a handshake with something wet drying all over your fingers as you chat. Instead, simply wave hello, keep your distance and just smile.

  5. Don’t ask “Why are you here?” This is a normal question at a networking event. People are dying to know what you’re looking for so they can help you. In the change room, asking that question is either stating the obvious or can be awkward. If you’re at the gym, assume they’re working out. If the person’s at the doctor’s office, most likely they have a medical condition that they’d prefer to discuss with their doctor. If you must ask questions, try asking about the family, a recent vacation or what they’re reading these days and stay away from asking about the obvious.

Networking in the change room can happen, just remember how to do it effectively to avoid an awkward encounter. Keep your eyes level, resist the urge to touch and you’ll soon learn that networking while undressed can be rewarding to the growth of your business.

Help to the writer by a judge of several major TV script and screenplay contests. Advice and tips on

Introduction There are many screenplay contests available
to the aspiring screenwriter. These contests can be a good
avenue to getting one’s work noticed and/or make a sale. So,
it’s important to make certain that you have written your
screenplay to the best of your ability and according to industry
standards.

The most important thing to do for any aspiring screenwriter is
to first learn the basic techniques of screenwriting before
sitting down to write one.I come across many hopeful writers
who think that all it takes to write a script is a good story
idea and a lot of explosive special effects. While a good story
is important, with or without the special effects, writing that
story using proper industry standards is equally
important.(Please visit http://www.cover
script.com/education.html — Tips for Screenwriters link for
further information.)

There are specific techniques to the craft of screenwriting
involving everything from act structure to proper screenplay
format, which must be followed. It’s difficult to write
engaging characters, focused plots and entertaining screenplays
without having a solid framework in which to bring it all to
life.

Before any money is spent submitting your work to a
screenwriting contest, it would behoove the writer to first
educate himself in the “tools of the trade”.There are many,
many screenwriting books available as well as workshops and
seminars, both online and in live classroom situations. My
advice is to take advantage of them. Then, armed with the
basics, write, write and then write some more.

Then before submitting your work to any screenplay competition
have it copyrighted and WGA registered.(United States
Copyright office: http://www.loc.gov/copyright<
/a>. Writers Guild of America: http://www.wga.org.)

Advice and Suggestions I am a judge for many contests
and as such, have read thousands of TV scripts and
screenplays.I can assure you that the winners are chosen
because their screenplays or TV scripts contain great stories
and are written to industry standards. Therefore, putting your
best foot forward is a must.Below are some pointers to keep in
mind before you submit your screenplay.

  • If your purpose
is to “break into the business”, make certain that the script
contest you enter offers meetings with agents and/or producers
as part of the prize for winning and not just cash prizes.Of
course, if it is just the extra cash you’re after, then go for
    it!

  • Make certain, before you write that entry fee check and
send in your material, that the screenplay contest or TV script
competition is a reputable one and indeed has, in the past,
delivered to its winners what it promised in its promotion.

  • Presentation of your screenplay does count so make certain
your screenplay follows the accepted industry standards. This
not only includes using the proper screenplay format but also
such things as a typo-free screenplay and the correct binding.

  • Keep in mind that the industry professionals who sponsor
some of these film and TV competitions do so in order to find
good producible material, hopefully for lower rather than higher
    budgets.Therefore, entering a screenplay in a genre with a
story that screams “high budget” lessens the writer’s chances of
    winning.This means that
  1. Sci-fi special effects
stories taking place on purple planets populated with giant,
    paisley-skinned, seven-armed, Plasmanian Wooglegorps who
magically float through the air using anti-gravity belts or

  2. a 1920’s Period Piece necessitating Model-T’s, Zoot suits
    and flappers or

  3. an action/adventure story that has the bad guys blown to
smithereens, along with their Lear jet, over the ocean, followed
by a high-tech nuclear submarine underwater search and rescue
mission while the oil slicked water burns out of control, are
not the best way to go.
  • Make certain that your
story is told visually.Film is a visual medium.

  • Make sure you don’t have “on the nose” dialogue or too much
dialogue and that all the dialogue sounds natural.

  • Check to make sure that your characters are interesting,
engaging and have good character arcs.Nothing worse than
having an unlikable hero, a wishy-washy bad guy, or a
protagonist who starts out angry at the world and by the end of
the story is still angry at the world having learned and changed
    nothing in his nature.
Conclusion Once you’ve gone
through your screenplay and are satisfied with it, have it read
by someone else. After all, your story is intended for a
movie-going audience so honest opinions from friends and family
members will give you a feel for that audience reaction.

Then do yourself a favor and have your screenplay read by an
industry professional that has experience and good credentials
in the area of script analysis.A writer can become too close
to his work and not be able to “see the forest for the
trees”.It is to your advantage to have any possible format,
story, character, dialogue and structure flaws found and
corrected before it is submitted to a movie or TV script contest.

While there is never any guarantee your screenplay or TV script
will be a winner, writing one to the best of your ability and
which meets industry standards is a must, as the competition is
fierce.

I wish you great success in your present and future
story-telling adventures.

Don’t Judge an Audience by its Stare

Don’t Prejudge A Situation: In the areas of emotions and feelings, it is important to avoid the natural human tendency to take situations at their face value no matter how practiced one is in making presentations.

You May Be Surprised: Our emotions cause us to prejudge an audience, often in direct contradiction to the facts. For example, in a recent presentation, one trainer continually scanned the trainees to detect the friendly faces, the hostile ones, the apathetic ones, and so on. One person in particular attracted attention. Throughout the presentation he stared directly at the trainer with a look of distinct hostility on his face to the degree that it actually became distracting. The trainer felt certain that here was a skeptical individual who saw through the presentation devices and was in effect looking at the trainer’s bare soul. Yet, at the end of the lecture the individual came forward with the statement, “I’ve always had a real problem in conveying my knowledge of a subject to an audience. It seems that no matter how well I know my subject, I just can’t seem to establish a proper audience relationship. I was extremely interested in how you did it. Could you give me some additional advice on how to establish audience contact?” Needless to say, the trainer was extremely surprised. This individual turned out to be the most interested member of the entire audience!
