Huge Growth in Mobile Data Consumption for Orange

Orange’s latest Digital Media Index predicts good business for mobile broadband service providers over the next few months. The figures show an impressive 504% increase in dongle subscriptions, and an astounding 4125% increase in data usage through mobile broadband connections.

This brings the total number of Orange mobile broadband service users to 3.8 million, which includes both dongle users and those with 3G-enabled mobile phones. The data usage adds up to a staggering total of 386 thousand Gigabytes every month.

This increase is attributed to the customers’ increased tendency to use an internet connection that provides data at any location, and at any time. The convenience of mobile broadband and it’s ease of use through the modem dongle therefore, has proved a boon to customers and service providers alike.

Paul Jevon, the director for Orange’s products, services and portals division, interprets the latest Digital Media Index figures as a sign that the mobile era has finally arrived. The flood of embedded laptops and mobile applications, along with the large amounts of high quality content made specifically for mobile portals, has resulted in burgeoning customer demand, he says.

With customers enjoying the convenience of seamless internet surfing, satisfaction with mobile broadband service is at a high. Clearly, the future for mobile broadband looks bright, and its progress is likely to continue for a long time to come.
