The DSi is a handheld gaming console manufactured by Nintendo, the developer of the well known Gameboy and the Nintendo Wii consoles. Built on its progenitor the Nintendo DS, the DSi comes with plenty of particular attributes which really set it aside from the rest of the crowd. The DSi white sold over 92K consoles in the UK in its launch period making it the fourth largest selling console in recent times. More lately sales have been reported to be at 140,000 boxes every 7 days or so with a steady increase in units sold. This is not at all surprising, for a console that comes packed with so many exciting features. The DSi white goes head to head with big competitors such as the white PSP and the white PSP Go:
Gaming enthusiasts can ultimately get freedom from wired consoles with limited mobility. The DSi not only supports almost all of the games from the DS Lite but is also more comfortable and straightforward to handle.
The Nintendo DSi White is a nice step in the development of Nintendo’s hand held. It has got a lot of new features that can go a good distance. Even DS Lite owners might wish to consider updating at some point, but it stands : if you’re happy with your DS Lite or original DS you don’t have to get it. It’s definitely worth considering, though. Positives about the White DSi : +Bigger and slightly brighter screen +New interface is straightforward to navigate +DSi Ware is a nice implementation +Digital camera to take footage with +Internal memory and SD card slot are nice for storing information +Downloaded games are cheap and the service has plenty of potential
Negatives about the DSi White : -Photos taken on camera only truly look good on the DSi screen -Shorter battery life -Web browser isn’t the best -The absence of a GBA slot means you can’t play GBA games, use some of the DS Lite’s accessories ( like a rumble pack ) and makes some games like Guitar Hero World Tour nearly unplayable
In the end some may ponder whether the upgrade is worthwhile. It’s a bit dearer than the DS Lite and doesn’t have a GBA slot and a shorter battery life-span. However you are getting some nice extra features, and with Nintendo planning to effect them in some of their games in the future, it’s at least worth consideration. DS Lite owners may not need to upgrade instantly, but in the future it might be worth considering. If you do not own a DS at all, the DSi is probably the best chance.
If you are still stuck with clumsy games machines that seem to bind you down, now’s the time to switch over to the next gen console the DSi from Nintendo.
