The One Dietary Change that Will Add Years to Your Life

In my nutritional counseling practice, I have long said: if there’s only one thing you’re ready to alter in your dietary habits, be sure to eat more vegetables and fruits. Raw is ideal, organic is even better, and fruits and vegetables that are organic and locally grown is the ultimate. If there is a farmer’s market nearby, go and purchase your vegetables and fruits there. Take some advice and be liberal about it. Buy more vegetables than you reckon you’ll consume.

Another superb health tip is to stock your kitchen with anti-oxidant foods. Be sure to keep these on hand at all times and integrate them liberally in your meals. Some of these anti-oxidant foods are marvellous alone as a simple treat. All of anti-oxidant foods have substantive nutritive goodness. As I like to tell those I work with, they will contribute years to your life.

A third fundamental advice to those who want to be healthier is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Try to have 3 – 4 quarts of water daily. You can have unsweetened herb tea but never count sugary, carbonated, artificially flavored. For each glass of alcohol (beer, wine, liquor) and also for each cup of coffee, it’s a good idea to drink an additional glass of water to nourish your kidney process these beverages. A little wine can be healthy, but you should keep in mind that it dehydrates the blood and in turn your organs.
